Note: Brownsville States-Graphic Thursday, December 05, 2002 Funeral services for Mr. Charles W. Presley Sr. were held on Monday, Dec. 2, at Brownsville Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Connerley and Dr. H. K. Sorrell officiating. Mr. Presley was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Brownsville Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher and deacon. He was a founding member of the Layman Quartet and the West Tennessee Quartet Convention, and recognized by the West Tennessee Quartet Convention in 1996 and 1997 for his contributions to gospel music. He died Saturday, Nov. 30, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital at the age of 78. Survivors include his wife, Fay Gamble Presley of Brownsville; two daughters, Judy Stoots Westover and Wanda Presley, both of Brownsville; three sons, Charles Presley Jr. of Covington, Tenn., Danny Presley of Brownsville and Chaplain Major Barry Presley of Huntsville, Ala.; one sister, Rachel Yvonne Butler of Dyersburg, Tenn.; one brother, James B. "Bill" Presley; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Interment was in Brownsville Memorial Gardens. The family requests that memorials be made to Brownsville Baptist Church, the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
