a. Note:   oncrete. Census records of fit with John T. Smith's age and locations and Rebecca Smith who married John Carson ends up in Dyer County along with John & wife , Martha. John's death certificate lists his father as a J. R Smith, but doesn't list his mother. The Civil War Soldiers & Sailors database lists a Hamilton Smith having served with Hilliard's Legion, Alabama Volunteers during the war. As he survived the war, hopefully there is a pension record for either him or his wife.
