Note: [See Notes on her brother, Griffith C. Barry, Sr.] Eliza first married Thomas Brodhead of Washington, DC. He died young and she corresponded with Thomas Adams, a friend of Brodhead, while he was in the West, marrying him on his return to DC at the end of the Civil War. Her obituary in a Washington paper: "Adams. At Norwood, Montgomery Co., MD on February 9, after a lingering illness, Mrs. Eliza R. Adams, wife of Thomas Adams, Esq. and daughter of the late James D. Barry. Funeral will take place from the residence of her mother, Mrs. Barry, New Jersey Avenue South at 11 o'clock, Friday morning, February 11. The friends of the family are invited to attend."
