  U S A LEVI PICKENS, CAMBRIDGE DIES HERE Levi Lewis Pickens, 79, of Cambridge (Ks), died Monday at 7:55pm in Newton Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since September 29. He had been in failing health for about two years. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 2:00pm in the Cambridge High School auditorium. Burial will be in the Cambridge Cemetery with Miles Funeral Home of Burden in charge. Mr. Pickens was born November 18, 1871, at Grant City, Worth County, Missouri, and came to Cowley County when he was twelve years old. He had since lived in this section, with his home in Cambridge the past 37 years. He was a carpenter. He was married to Ruth A. Smith, April 02, 1894 at Winfield, and they celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in Cambridge in 1944. Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Betty J. Cook of Cambridge; three sons, Alfred of Cherryvale, Sam of Winfield and Elw Cambridge; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mr Eva Tubbs of Winfield. (Obituary taken from the Winfield Daily Courier.) Funeral Services for Levi L. Pickens of Cambridge were held Thursday afternoon in the high school auditorium in Cambridge. David Fultz of the Winfield Church of Christ officiated, assisted by Rev. Kenneth Smith of Southern Baptist Church of Coffeyville. Singers were Mrs. Alf Brown and Mrs. Cochran who sang three songs. Interment was in the Cambridge Cemetery. Pallbearers were Herbert Pickens, Burden, Henry Pickens, Wichita, Joseph Pickens, Winfield, John Simmons, New Salem, Willis Abbott, Arkansasd City and Vyrl Smith, Coffeyville. Miles Mortuary of Burden was in charge. (Obituary was taken from the Winfield Daily Courier.)
