Funeral services were held in Severy Sunday afternoon and interment was in the Severy Cemetery. BIOGRAPHY: Obituary - Eureka Herald, June 7, 1945 Walter Edward Mann was born near Eureka, Kansas to William and Amanda A. Mann April 23, 1882, and departed this life May 25, 1945 aged 63 years, one month and two days. He lived a worthwhile and honorable life, and will be sadly missed by his beloved wife, Josie with whom he had spent 33 years of happy wedded life. She tenderly cared and nursed him during his days of sickness. He leaves an aged mother, Amanda Mann, Eureka, Kansas; his father having preceded him in death July 11, 1920; four brothers, Robert L., Neal; Ira N., Santa Ana, California; Glen W. and Homer H. Orange, California; six sisters, Susie Smith, Blue Mound, Ks.; Maggie Johnson Billings, Mont.; Effie Kerr, Hamilton; Eliza Williams, Eureka; Avis Wygle, Eureka and Ruth Parten, Red Wing; a niece Mrs. Ruth Garner, who made her home with them throughout her childhood. He was laid to rest May 27, 1945 in Severy Cemetery. The Rev. J. Fred Bayless of the Christian Church, Eureka officiating, with the Congregational Church assisting. The Maben Funeral Services had charge. BIOGRAPHY: Obituary Walter Edward Mann Dies Walter Edward Mann, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. William Mann, was born April 23, 1882 in Greenwood County, and passed away on May 25, 1945, at 1:50 A.M. at his home in Severy. He spent his entire life in Greenwood county except four years in Elk county. He was educated in the Eureka schools. He was united in marriage to Miss Jossie Everett of Greenfield, Mo., May 27, 1912. He and his good wife reared her niece, Mrs. Ruth Garner, and loved her as a daughter. He proclaimed Christ about the age of seventeen and lived a consistent life. Loving hands did everything for his comfort during his long illness. He leaves to mourn his going his wife, Jossie; Mrs. Ruth garner and family of Greenfield, Mo.; his mother, Mrs. Amanda A. Mann; brother and sisters, Mrs. Frank Wygle, Mrs. Clarence Williams, Eureka; Ira, Glenn and Homer Mann of Santa Ana, Calif.; Mrs. John M. Smith of Blue Mound; Mrs. Harve Kerr of Hamilton; Mrs. J.R. Johnson of Billings, Mont.; Mrs. Carl Parten of Redwig; Robert L. Mann of Neal. His father predeceased him in 1920, and triplets, two brothers and one sister, died in infancy in 1890. Others left to mourn him include other relatives, Mrs. Geo. Fee and Mrs. Preston Doughty of Piedmont, and a host of friends. The funeral service was held from Severy Congregational church Sunday afternoon with the Rev. F. Bayless, minister of the Eureka Christian church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. E.V. Fee and Miss Margaret of Piedmont; Mr and Mrs James M Taylor, Miss Delpha and Ralph of Tishomingo, Okla; Mr and Mrs Glenn Mann and children, Ruthie and Frances of Eureka; Mr. Ike Mullinax of Piedmont; Mr and Mrs John (Ollie) Duvall of Moline; Mr and Mrs Carl Parten and son of Madison; Mr and Mrs Mirrel Doughty of Severy; Mr and Mrs Culbertson, daughters Nola May, Mary Louise of Eureka; Mr and Mrs George Howard (probably Howald) of Piedmont; Mr and Mrs Hugh McDonald and daughter, Dorothy and son Marvin of Wichita; Miss Flossie Miller of Wichita; Mr and Mrs Ira Mann, Vivian, Robert of Eureka; Mr and Mrs Homer Mann of Eureka; Mr and Mrs Melvin Doughty of Severy; Mr and Mrs Frankie Miller and daughter June; Mrs Eliza Dossey and son, Lawrence of Eureka; Mrs Edna Edaius?(Adams) and children Helen and Frances of Piedmont; Mr and Mrs Ray Rader, sons, Howard and Forest of Piedmont; Mrs. John M Smith of Hewins; Mr and Mrs Fred E Bland and children, Louise, Frank of Piedmont; Mrs Stufflebeam, Verna and Billie of Madison; Mrs Prince Gaynt and Lucile and Earl of Wichita (Mr Prince and Lucile Gwynn and son Carl of Wichita); Mr and Mrs Elmer Garner and children, Bettie June, Martha Lea of Piedmont and Mrs Mary E Rader and old neighbor of the Taylor children".
