Effie was married to Harvey Edmund Kerr at Eureka, Kans., on April 11, 1908. In 1913, Harvey and Effie and their three children moved by covered wagon to Morton County, Kans. One child was born here. In 1916, they moved to a homestead in Stanton County, Kans. Here four more children came to bless the home. In 1929, the family moved to Baca County. In 1937, with her husband and three younger boys she moved back to Greenwood County, Kans. Effie and Harvey bought a home in Walsh in 1952. Effie was baptized in 1924 in Bear Creek at a Free Methodist Revival. She was a member of the Walsh Methodist Church and a member of the Two Buttes Rebekah Lodge No. 26. Due to ill health in 1959, Effie made her home with her daughter, Florence, and her husband, Glen Doner. She was patient, uncomplaining and appreciative during all these years, always quick with a ready smile. Preceding her in death were her parents, six brothers, five sisters, three children: Ruby in 1950; Scott in 1959; Louis in 1960; and her husband, Harvey in 1965. She will be missed by her daughter, Florence and husband Glen, of the home; Mrs. Helen Cullison of Grants Pass, Ore.; Raymond, Webb City, Okla.; Harry of Sedan, Kans.; and Joe Melvin of Liberal Kans. Also one brother, Ira Mann of Santa Ana, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Parten of Hoisington, Kans.; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Her daughter Florence wrote the following tribute to her: My Mother, By Florence Doner My Mother gave me a heritage, She taught me to pray, Mother never lost courage, There was always a new day. Mother had a lot of hardship, Disappointments and pain, But without a cause, She was never heard to complain. All Mother wanted of life Was to be loved and care for, Not knowing what God had in store. She knows now it wasn't in vain, Oh! How I'll miss her, She depended on me, But my hands were tied, Don't you see? Mother kept herself immaculate, Wholesome and sweet. I'm sure she's gone to heaven, Where someday we will meet. I can hear a glad welcome, As Jesus gathers her home, In His arms with loved ones Mothers has missed so long. Father: William E.
