Note: Subj: Re:Prindle Date:1/25/2002 10:07:27 PM Mountain Standard Time From:[email protected]@MINDSPRING.COM To:[email protected]@cs.com Hi Paul, Sounds like your Friday nights are about as exciting as mine. ;- ( Thelma is the 5th child of Maude .But she was not a Weikel. Maude married Eben Horn and Thelma is their daughter. Thelma did marry a Medley. I am her oldest daughter. I just wish I could find out more about Maude...never knew her...she and Eben were dead before I was born.I suspect she was a colorful character. And there is absolutely NOTHING that can be found about Eben, although there is much history of the Horn family generations before him. Have you ever been to Owensboro, Ky.? Mary BIOGRAPHY: Subj: Weikel Date:1/25/2002 11:42:57 PM Mountain Standard Time From:[email protected]@MINDSPRING.COM To:[email protected]@cs.com BIOGRAPHY: Paul, Wilton is tall, thin. Fair complected(beautiful complexion) and baby blue eyes.He was very talented as a craftsman. Used to do upholstery. Also makes musical stringed instruments.Very bright, but unschooled. I think times were VERY hard when they were young. I believe that all four of Sebastians children were above average in intellect. My mother is certainly above average, but that would be a Weikel gene.....either Prindle or Horn. Seems a sad story when Sebastian died.Maude lost the farm and was unable to provide for the 4 children. She placed them in an orphanage (in Louisville I think) She did not come to get them out 'til after she'd married Eben Horn, my grandfather. My mom says her siblings Gerald, Wilton, Bertha and Martha were wonderful to her...she was the baby, after all. Paul, this was a strong generation.I don't think I will ever be able to imagine what awful, impoverished times they had. They were so reilient then and they took care of each other. Sure is different nowadays . I was spoiled and indulged and never wanted for anything and my kids are just as bad..we wouldn't know what to do if a real tragedy struck.......except we still have mom at the helm and she knows what it is to make do and do without. I admire her so much. They just don't make 'em like her anymore. oops, sorry for the rambling. Mary |
