Born south of Latham (Butler County, Kansas) on March 01, 1894, she was the daughter of B. C. and Mary J. Smith. After attending Winfield schools, she was employed as a waitress in local restaurants. On March 01, 1919, she was married to William John Yianakopolous at the home of her parents. The couple lived in Winfield and Mrs. Yianakopolous was a homemaker. He preceded her in death in 1962. Mrs. Yianakopolous was a longtime member of the Free Methodist Church, where she was active in the Women's Missionary Society. Survivors include 03 sons, John Yianakopolous, Long Beach, California, Nick B. Yianakopolous, 1008 East 12th Street, Winfield, Cowley County, Kansas, Ted Yianakopolous, Joplin, (Jasper County), Missouri; two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Celia) Stout, Atlanta, (Cowley County), Kansas, Mrs. Keith (Patsy) Sommers, 103 Indiana, (Winfield, Cowley County, Kansas), 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2:00pm Tuesday in Highland Cemetery. Miles Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials have been established with the Cowley County Hospice, Inc. and the Free Methodist Church. Contributions may be made at the church or the funeral home.
