COMM: Edna entered the Howard Nursing Home where she passed away in Howard, Elk County, Kansas. Note: Susan lived with the Rader family just north of Piedmont, Kansas after her parents died in 1881. Margaret Fee Lilly lives on the Rader's former farm.
  Obituary-- Susan Edna Doughty Susan Edna Taylor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Taylor, was born November 20, 1877 on a farm north of Piedmont, Kansas. She departed this life December, 29, 1957 at Howard, Kansas. Both of her parents passed away when she was only about three years of age. Mr. and Mrs. V.S. Rader whom she fondly called grandfather and grandmother, took her to their home and gave her love, kindness, and a good home. On December 24, 1893, she was united in marriage to James Preston Doughty. To this union eight children were born, Fred, deceased, Ollie Gwynn, Phillipsburg, Montana, Mirrel Doughty, Lerna Stufflebeam, Alma Brown, Portland, Oregon, Melvin Doughty, Howard, Kansas, Lucille Ruedin, Lewiston, Idaho, and Russell Doughty, Wichita, Kansas. She leaves to mourn her loss; sixteen grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews and dear friends; and one sister-in-law, Mrs. Vessie Taylor of Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Mrs. Doughty lived on a farm southeast of Piedmont, Kansas all her married life. Soon after the death of Mr. Doughty, she moved to Piedmont, where she lived until August, 1956, when she went with her daughter, Alma Brown and family to Portland, Oregon where she visited with Alma, Lerna and Mirrel until February, 1957 when in failing health, she returned to Kansas and entered the Howard Nursing Home, where she passed away Sunday, December 29, 1957. In 1889, at the age of 12 years she united with the Methodist Church, ever remaining a faithful member until called to the Church Triumphant. Memorial services were held in the Methodist Church in Piedmont, Wednesday, January 1, with the Rev. C.Z. Allsbury, Methodist minister, officiating, Music, was furnished by Mrs. Morton Lilley and Mrs. Leslie Mock, with Mr. Clayton Eberhardt, accompanist. The casket bearers were her nephews: Frank Miller, Eddie Miller, Frank Fee, Ed Bland, Ralph Taylor and Morton Lilley. Concluding services and burial were at the Piedmont cemetery under the direction of the Moon Funeral Home, of Howard, Kansas.
