Notes
a. Note: ag. In a letter from Stephen Calvin Hoag, dated 4 May 2009, he said “The story I have always heard is that my grandfather Stephen bought a ranch on the Frio River in Eastern Uvalde County and ranched there for a while. Then sold it and bought the Fort Inge property, 4 miles South of Uvalde around 1869-1870. All records are in long hand and it is said that Hoog appeared as Hoag on the papers. He said that was OK so let it be Hoag and so it was. However my grand parents (Stephen and Williamina) are buried in the Uvalde Cemetery and both of their headstones have Hoog on them.”
Note: In the 1870's this family changed the spelling of their last name to Ho
b. Note: Death Certificate #: 11523, Bexar County, Texas
