Notes
a. Note:   Cause of Death (Facts Pg) Internal injuries from a logging accident Tobias Rose was shot on two separate occasions. The first time he was shot by his wife, Cynthia Reynolds Rose when she found him with another woman in 1891. The October 9, 1891 issue of the Williamsburg Times cites the following story:
"Tobias Rose of South America (District), this county, was shot by his wife and fatally wounded las Sunday night. Particulars not known. He is dead." (This was and error because Tobias lived another eleven years and was shot again)
He was shot a second time by a man whose wife Tobias was courting. According to the story that Thomas J. Rose, Sr. told his son Thomas J. Rose, Jr., a gun belt that Tobias was wearing saved his life as it deflected the bullet. (This information came from Michelle Gentry Hagan, a descendant of Tobias Rose)
Tobias was killed when he was taking logs out of a wooded area near Williamsburg, Kentucky. He was working with the help of his son, Henry, when a log rolled over him, he was taken home with internal injuries. He lingered for several days before dying.
