Note: Benjamin Warren Ayres is the son of William Henry Ayres and Elizabeth Maria Daggett. 1850 Census - Bonhobmin Township, St. Louis Co., Missouri - lists a William H. Ayres age 40 yrs old, a carpenter born in New Jersey, and living with his wife, Eliza M. age 30 yrs old born in Missouri and the following children: Benjamin W. age 7 yrs old, John D. age 5 yrs old, Robert age 3 yrs old and Sarah Ann age 1 yrs old, all children born in St. Louis, Missouri. Microfilm, page 365. 1860 Census - Central Township, near Rock Hilll, St. Louis, Missouri lists a William H. Ayres age 48 yrs old living with his children: (his wife Elizabeth had died 1859) - Benjamin W. age 15 yrs old, John D. age 14 yrs old, Robert W. age 12 yrs old, Sarah S. age 10 yrs old, Johannah age 8, William H. Jr. age 6 yrs old, Harriett age 4 yrs old, Eliza age 4 yrs old and the following servants: Aba Marion age 35 yrs old from Ireland and her son John Marion age 6 yrs, John Robinson age 27 yrs old- a farmhand and James Saac age 26 yrs old a farmhand. 1870 Census - St. Louis, Missouri lists a William H. Ayres age 58 living with the following children: Benj. W. age 27 yrs working as a clerk in a Steamboat office. John D. age 24 yrs working as a clerk in a store. Robert age 22 yrs working as a clerk in a store. William age 18, Sallie age 17, Harriet age 13, and Elizabeth age 11. 1877 - Death - Benjamin Warren was accidently shot by Sargent W. H. Blodgett near Pine and Garrison Ave., january 10, 1877. According to the obit it is stated: Blodgett dropped his pistol and it was discharge by the fall and the ball struck Benjamin Warren in the fleshy part of his left leg and angled upwards and lodged just back of his heart. Benjamin died just twenty-four hours afterwards.
