Note: ut 1728 in Prince George's County, Maryland. He was later married in Maryland to Eleanor "Nellie" Hendrix. John and Eleanor eventually moved with his parents to South Carolina. On 10 November 1768, they had a plantation containing 200 acres surveyed for them which was situated in the original Berkeley County. John later served as a Private in the South Carolina Militia under General Thomas Sumter during the Revolutionary War. John died in 1794 in Newberry County, South Carolina. Although he did not leave a will, his wife, Eleanor, and their eldest son, James, were made Executors of his estate by the Newberry County Court on 19 May 1794. Final disbursement, however, was not made until 6 May 1795. Eleanor received a "widows third," and the remainder was divided among his children.
