Note: out 1725 in Prince George's County, Maryland. He was later married in Maryland to a woman named Martha Prather. Martha, who was born on 20 April 1730 in Prince George's County, was the daughter of John Smith Prather and Elizabeth Nuthall. After their marriage, James and Martha resided on a plantation called "Ball Christe" in Frederick County, Maryland. James subsequently died in Frederick County in 1763. Although it appears that James died intestate, an appraisement of his estate was carried out on 12 August 1763. After James passed away, Martha married for a second time, also in Maryland, to a man named Robert Lazenby. Martha and Robert resided in that part of Frederick County that was later made a part of Montgomery County, Maryland in 1776. Robert died in Montgomery County in 1785. His will, which was dated 3 March 1785, was later probated before the Montgomery County Court on 15 June 1785.
