Fr. Lucien wrote in his 1672-1925General History of Vinet Family that Jean-Baptiste became more religious astime went on, and at one time wanted to become a Priest. Fr. Lucien went onto say that Jean-Baptiste was a strong, robust man with unusual strength anda firm determination to do the right thing. He also had big feet and big hands and was obliged to have his mittens knitted and wore a size 12 extra wideshoe. (wool was hard to get in those days) One source says Jean-Baptiste arrived in Canada Nov. 6, 1672, but another source says he was 20 years old inthe 1666 census of Trois-Rivières, 22 years old in the 1667 census of same. Listed in 1687 census of Seigneurie de Boucherville with 7 acres of value and4 (betes cornes) (37 yrs. old). July 9, 1721, Jean-Baptiste Vinet, father and François Vinet, his son with whom he lives, reached an agreement: 5 fevr. 1716, at the time of the sharing of the goods of the community between his children, he " had reserved prayers after his death ", he stated that his savingswere to be used to bury him honourably, to have sung an anniversary serviceat the end of the year and to have said 200 low masses. Finally settled in Pointe-aux-Trembles where he died at the age of (77/80). His funeral was attended by his sons, Philippe, Francois and Prudent on April 3, 1723. His wife, Jeanne Etienne, died many years later at Longue-Pointe at 90 years old. She was buried Aug. 7, 1747. "Natif de la paroisse de Perignac en Sainctonge" -per PRDH PRDH also lists him as a "Habitant" under occupation. Present at funeral: Prudent, Philippe and François Vinet, sons, Jeantot (occupation Frere); and Louis Baudry. Jean-Baptiste was age 80 at death. Philippe signed hisname, but spelled it "Phillipe"; neither Prudent nor François signed.
