Notes
a. Note:   Moses Hall was a Cuyahoga Co., OH, pioneer farmer. He purchased 2163 acres in Dover Township, having bought the title from Hubbard and Stowe, agents of the Connecticut Land Co. (Recorded in Vol. 1 records in Cuyahoga Co., Horace Perry, recorder, in Vol. A, pg. 2998.) Nehemiah and Lucy Hubbard and Joshus and Ruth Stowe sold the land to Moses Hall for $4,326 in 1810.
In company with several other families, Moses moved his wife and twelve children to Ohio in 1811 with ox and horse teams. They were six weeks making the trip through dense forests from Lee, Massachusetts to Ohio, with Indians and wild animals the only other inhabitants of the forest. When the wagons bogged down in the mud, he would put his shoulders under the box to assist the teams. Ziba Hall of Cleveland, Ohio, is in possession (in 1953) of mounted horns from a team of these oxen.
Moses gave each of his seven sons one hundred acres and each of his five daughters fifty acres from the original 2163 acres. Seven of his children settled in Cleveland (originally, Dover ) and five in Ashtabula, Ohio.
Moses Hall's second wife, Lydia Hinsdale, was born August 9, 1763, and died January 4, 1825. She was one of eight persons to organize a Congregational Church on June 5, 1811 at Lee, Massachusetts.
Relief Swift was the granddaughter of Joseph Chadwick.
