a. Note:   It was considered sinful to have instrumental music in a church service so a tuning fork was used by choir leader. David Ingersoll led the choir with his splendid bass voice. He would be foremost and dressed in his home-made linen suit. He was a fine man and it was said of him, that if all of members of the human family were like him, there would be no need of prisons, courts of justice would be vacant, and attorneys would find their profession unprofitable. He was connected with Congregational Church almost 60 years. He and his wife lived together 60 years lacking 3 months and all their children died before them.
