She came to Kingsburg, CA to visit her sister Julia and brother Peter, and there met and married Ernest Johnson on Dec. 21, 1918. Ernest was born in Smaland, Sweden, in 1885. They lived on a fruit farm east of Kingsburg, growing grapes and peaches. They were active in the Baptist church in Kingsburg. Ernest passed away March 16, 1960. Tekla passed away on August 7, 1968. Their children were Esther, Paul, and Alice (who died as an infant).
