Her unmarried sister Sarah Barr lived with Joseph and Caroline. ---- Obit from the Owego Gazette, May 3, 1923 (Berkshire Notes): Death of Mrs. Caroline Barr Bargess After many months of illness, Mrs. Caroline Barr Burgess died Friday afternoon, April 27. Mrs. Burgess was the daugther of George and Amelia Ames Burgess [sic] and was born in Catatonk, Dec. 14, 1832. She was married to Joseph Burgess, who died about five years ago. with her parents, Mrs. Burgess came to Berkshire, where she had lived over 80 years. Since the death of her husband, she had made her home with her late brother, Geo. A. Barr. she had been a member of the Methodist church here for over 70 years and was the oldest member. Her funeral was held from the Barr homestead on Sunday afternoon, Rev. Howard Willets officiating and Sydney Smith being in charge. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.
