Notes
a. Note:   # 229 01 4855. Certified Mine Foreman, and First Aid Man. Everette was raised by his Grand Parents, Aunts, and Uncles in Dickenson County, VA. This area of VA. was wild and much like the wild west during the 1890's. The post civil war families were prone to having feuds. Everette and his Uncles had been threatened by a Hall man. He said. "I will kill the next Fleming I see." When Everette and Ison (Uncle) came up on this man, Ison said, "Everette Don't let Him Kill us!" Everette drew his pistol and killed the Hall man. Everette was in the Pen. for two years. He could not afford good counsel, and the Hall's spend a large sum to get Everette convicted. He always carried a gun because he was afraid of Dogs, he gave as his reason. Everette was Quick Tempered, and took nothing from any one! Everette knew and met his father Alexander Phipps, but never received much help from him. Funeral conducted by: Rev. Rene Singleton and Rev. Hadley Edwards A member of the KKK as a younger man! A good provider and father.
