Tina, I don't know if I ever told you about the day Monie was born. If I have, just over look my retelling it again. I was four and one half years old when she was born. I remember Mama and me (probably Barbara too) waiting at the end of our driveway on Cummings Street in Memphis. My grandmother (Dovie Stockton) came and picked us up and took us to her house on College Street. This was about three or four blocks from our house and normally we would walk over. We had only one car and Daddy used it to go to work. I remember Aunt Pebble kept Barbara, Linda (Haynes Baker) and me toward the back of the house. Mama and Big Mama (my name for my grandmother) were in the front bedroom. The doctor had not arrived at that time. Mama told me after I got older that Big Mama would pull on Monie as Mama had her contractions. Monie was a breech birth and if Big Mama had not pulled I am sure there could have been complications. I remember when the doctor arrived and walked through the front door with his black bag that Monie cried. I thought he had her in that bag. I got an early Christmas present. I am thankful for the thirty-seven years that she was her with us. I miss talking to her. We really became close after we both became an adults. She was a gentle soul and a very special sister.
