a. Note:   [Isaac.GED] BIOGRAPHY: Certified letter, Calvert File, Greene County Genealogical society. Letter To Dr T. M. Miller from Ida Calvert Ida Calvert Silver Hill, W. VA. Jun 1 1921 To: Dr T. M. Calvert (Note--Thomas Miller Calvert, Sonof Reason Calvert,Grandson of Thomas C. Calvert) (Note-Ida is the daughter of Rezin Calver, granddaughter of Hugh Ewing Calvert and Great Grand daughterof Thomas and Anna Ewing Calvert) Dear Uncle: We came home from Greene County last night and have nearly all the information you desire. We found the Grave of our great grandfather Thomas C. Calvert on the hill above Roberts Run on a farm owned by Richard Calvert's son Tommy. The Plot is fenced but the stone was there in three pieces. When we got the stone out of the ground we found the inscription perfect. We next went to Isaac Calvert's old farm now ownedby Richard Calvert's son John. He bought it about a year ago from S. C. Brock. We found what we thought to be the spot covered with brush and briar's butJohn had his boys cut and rake the briars and at last we found a grave, partof a foot stone was there but the head stone was gone. We scoured the whole region but did not find the other stone. We next went to the old graveyard at Blacksville and easily found the grave of Anne Ewing Calvert The others were satisfied with their find but there were so many old stones there that Clark and I insisted on looking at them. We found a stone marked Fanny Bullett Calvert. At the head was a larger stone that had been re cut with the name Johann Margaret Calvert on it but it was very old and there had been something else on it earlier. We could make out a few letters and I believe it is Issac's Tombstone. We went to the Valley Chapel Graveyard and found Grandfather's and Grandmother's Graves in good condition Lisan Conklin says that Thomas C. Calvert and Anne Ewing Calvert were married in Mapletown but she did not know the date. Ida Calvert Transcribed by David Edwin Bell 7/21/2003. NOTES --- Thomas "Tommy"'s farm is probably the one which his son Truman Calvert (deceased) and widow Florence Zimmerman Calvert (widow) owns. Thomas's farm is the one next to Johns August 2003, Florence still lives in the 100 year old farm house. The coal company mined under the house and it's foundation is damaged, Florence's family suggested she have it torn down and get a molduar home. Florence said, NO, not in her live time, she wants the house to remain standing. Photos 2003 - Sylvia Whittaker Searching Tommy's farm for the stone of Thomas in 3 pieces From Ida's notes---Isaac old farm, later owned by John. The farm house is still standing according to Florence Calvert it the original farm house. Photo 2003 - Sylvia Whittaker Searching John's Farm, for Base stone ofIsaac Calvert. August 2003, Sylvia Whittaker found Charlotte ______Calvert's wife of Harvey Milton, base and stone broken in three pieces and small footstone. It's located at the top of a knoll about 20 feet into the meadow, along the fence line between the farms of John and Thomas Calvert. Other gravesare obviously there from the sunked indentations near Charlottes stone. Charlotte's stone is very white and stands out if the meadow grass is mowed. Photos - 2003 - Sylvia Whittaker These stones need raised so that when the meadow is mowed they won't be damaged further. Charlotte daughter of John Calvert. 2003 - John's farm later was owned by the Coal Company, Year unknown, Neal Chisler made a deal with the Coal Company, a trade of some kind and now owns the farm. Its being rented by a Barnhart family. (Will check when farm changed hands, Deeds etc.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- About the year 1815, Thomas settled on Rudolph Run at the mouth of Hoy Run, one mile above the present village of Brock. The Coal Company build an air shaft where the cabin stood.....
