a. Note:   Ref: Steven C. Verden http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/v/e/r/Steven-C-Verden/GENE2-0008.html#CHILD16 More About DIANAH FAUBION: Event 1: Buried Faubion Cemetery, Clay County, Missouri Notes for JOSEPH BROADHURST: If it is true that Joseph was a son of Sally, then he was about 14 years of age when she died. There is no record of what happened to the family after her death.Dianah's obituary says that they were married in 1815, and that they moved to Clay County, Missouri in the Fall of 1829. Clay County records show that Joseph Broadhurst entered SE1/2 ofNW1/4, Section 18, Township 51, Range 32 on October 16, 1825. That would be 40 acres, more or less (Clay County Plat Book 41). (Section 18, Range 32 adjoins Section 13, Range 33 in which John Broadhurst entered land on December 15, 1824.) Then Joseph Broadhurst bought 80 acres on November 16, 1829 (E1/2 of SE1/4, Section 14, Township 51, Range 33 - Deed Book 8, page 358). Joseph entered the SW1/4 of the NW1/4 of Section 18, Township 51, Rande 32 on February 18, 1839 (Plat Book 41) - this 40 and the 40 he entered in 1825 made 80 acres in that parcel. On February 28, 1842 Joseph seems to have sold to his son, John F., 78 & 94/100 acres - NE1/4 of NW1/4 Section 18, Township 51, Range 32, and SE 1/4 of NW 1/4, Section 13, Township 51, Range 32 (Book 0, page 209). At this point no record has been found that he ever bought those parcels. He bought on March 12, 1850 the SE 1/4 of Section 15, Township 51, Range 33 for $700 (Deed Book M, page 6). He sold land to his son Alfred Spencer on April 1, 1851 (Book M, page 298). and sold other land to George S. Goode on February 27, 1852, (Book N, page 167). These are probably the parcels in Section 15 and the SE1/2 of NW 1/4, Section 18. On September 17, 1868 Joseph bought 80 acres from L. W. Cooper (W1/2 of Sw1/4 Section 13, Township 51, Range 33 - Deed Book 27, page 261). Then, on the same day and for the same amount of money, he sold that identical piece of property to J. W. Faubion, Sr. (Book 27, page 262). At the time of Joseph's death tow parcels of land remained, and they had to be sold to settle the estate, E1/2 of SE1/4, Section 14, Township 51, Range 33 and the SW1/4 ofNW1/4, Section 18, Township 51, Range 33. John Wesley Faubion, Sr. bought the parcel in Section18. (Sheriff's Deed in Partition in possession of M. E. Rule). We know that in 1830 Joseph and Dianah owned two slaves, a man age 24-36, and a woman age 10-24. We know that Joesph Broadhurst took Loyalty Oath and gave Bond because it was printed in the September 12, 1862 issue of the Liberty Tribune. Joseph's obituary says that he was one of Clay County's best citizens, esteemed by all who knew him, and that they raised a large, influential family. (Source: Genealogical Notes from the Liberty Tribune, Volume, III (1868-1874), page45........Obituary of Joseph Broadhurst dated April 27, 1871). Dianah's obituary says that they ". . . . raised nine children, all of whom are members of the M. E. Church, South. Two of whom are ministers of the gospel." Their Bible shows that eleven children were born, but only nine lived to be adults. On April 12, 1858 Joseph had joined with John Broadhurst and William Faubion to purchase a half acre of land which was already in use as a cemetery to be a "family buring ground" (Book R, page 235). Faubion Cemetery is the "Last resting place" for both Joseph and Dianah who died about six months apart in the year of 1871. There is no stone in the cemetery for them, but Egbert Broadhurst, said that they were buried "under the cedar trees". ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following information fron Patt Seitas: Born Septer 11, 1794 in Cocke County, Tennessee, died April 1871. he married in 1815 Diannah Faubion (22-FB), daughter of Henry Faubion (6FB) & Merium McKay.
