Notes
a. Note:   H115
Note:   Widowed 9 June 1876 remarried 1878
b. Note:   William shared a birthday with his son John - 15th August. He was born in 1846. Just eight days later - on 23rd August - he was baptised by a newly arrived Curate to his Limerick parish called C. O'Donoghue. The following year, this priest would contribute to a famine relief fund in the area. William's godparents were John Guerin and Margaret Allen. By this date, the family were still living in the Ballysteen area, which had been the family home as long as anyone could remember. The boys' father Cornelius (a son of John Kennerk) was born there himself in 1812.
It is also interesting to consider the church building in which William was baptised. Lewis's Topographical Dictionary (1837), gives the following description:
There are two chapels, one in the town, and one at Ballystean, both thatched buildings. Adjoining the church is a parochial school for boys and girls; four public schools afford instruction to about 190 children
c. Note:   By the date of his death, William was a widower. He died from Cardiac Failure, brought on by Pneumonia. The duration of his illness was just 10 days.
His last address was 226 East 34th Street. His body reposed at Dan'lJ. Meridan undertakers on 465 3rd Avenue before being taken to Calvary Cemetery for burial on 31st July 1919. Up until his death, he was working as a bricklayer. William was 73 when he died, despite his age being listed on the Cert as 65.
