a. Note:   John Henry McCallie was enrolled on 14 January 1864 at Calhoun, Tennessee in Company C. 19 Regiment of Tenn. Cavalry Volunteers to serve three years or " During the War " and mustered into the War as a recruit on the 29th day of January 1864 at Nashville, in Company C, 10th regiment of Tenn. Cavalry. He became a buger in earlly 1865 and was mustered out on 1 August 1865.
  During the first year of marriage, John Henry and Martha Ann McCallie moved to Carrolton, Carrol County, Arkansas as their first child, William Theodore , was born there in 1869.
  John Henry and Martha McCallie stayed in Carrol County until 1881, then moved to Harrison County, Arkansas where they stayed until at leat 1888.
  They had nine children. The first six were born in Carrolton, Carrol County, Arkansas; the last three were born in Harrison County, Arkansas.
  During the 1890's, they moved to the chickasaw Nation in Indian Territory near Ardmore. John taught school for a time and was one of the guards for the first Federal jail in Ardmore when it was only a stockade. He worked under Marshall John S. Hammer and for awhile William Theodore and Thaddeus Lincoln McCallie, his sons, were deputies or posseman under Marshall Hammer.
  He also ran a wagon yard in Ardmore at one time. He died of pneumonia on 15 January 1899, two miles southeast of Hewitt, Indian Territory. He is buried near Bowman's Point near Wilson, Oklahoma. This cemetary was started by cowboys who came up the Chisholm Trail near there. He has a marker at the grave.
  Martha lived with Thad when the 1900 Census was taken in Indian Territory and drew a widow's pension for herself and two children under the age of 16 years. They were John, Jr. and George.
  Sometime around statehood for Oklahoma in 1907, several members of the family - including Martha - moved to the Weleetka area.
