Death Certificate and book from funeral home: We are met in this memorial service this early autumn day to pay tribute to Mrs. Bertha Edna Pence, who has made her home in Peoria since childhood. Born at Delevan, Illinois on March 10th, 1889, the daughter of Page and Ella Secrist Nichols, she married Ira Pence in Peoria on July 21, 1923. Ms. Pence has been a patient sufferer for a long period of time, but remained cheerful through all the days of her indisposition. Surviving are her husband, one daughter; Miss Ilean Pence; one son: George, of the U.S. Army Engineers, stationed at Camp Abbott, who is present today; two brothers, Bernard Nichols, of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Samuel Nichols of Dwight, Illinois; and one sister: Mrs. Carrie Walters of Atlanta, Georgia.
