Note: Elva M. Crawford, 89, of Arkansas City, KS died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at Medical Lodge East. Elva was born August 30, 1919, to Thomas and Mary (Shields) Venn in Jet, Oklahoma. She was reared and educated in Jet, Oklahoma. In April 1938, Elva married Howard Clover. The couple lived most of their married life on the Vickery Ranch east of Newkirk, Oklahoma. She planted a large garden every year and had beautiful flower gardens. She also raised chickens and milked several cows twice a day. Elva's family and friends all loved to visit and enjoyed her cooking. Elva and Howard moved to Enid, Oklahoma in the early 60s where she worked at Lambert's Clothing Store until her retirement. Elva married Lester Crawford in 1970. After Lester passed away, Elva moved to Arkansas City to be near her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Jacob Clover and wife Gloria; daughter, Freida Kahle and husband Gary all of Arkansas City, Kansas; two sisters, Mina Bakers and husband Bill of Raytown, Missouri; Marie Cloyd of Byron, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Elva was preceded in death by her husbands. Howard Clover and Lester Crawford, four brothers, five sisters, and a great granddaughter.
