Note: Jerry Lynn Gibson, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed away early Wednesday morning, June 30, 2010, in his home. He was 70. Jerry was born in Helena on March 5, 1940, to Roy and Velera Gibson. He graduated from Blackwell High School in 1958. On Sept. 9, 1966, Jerry married Haroldyn Fawcett Gibson. They made their home in Blackwell. In 1972 they were blessed with the birth of their only child, Jared. Jerry worked at Welch-Coffey until the family moved to Ponca City in 1978. He then worked at Pemberton Chevrolet, where he proudly became ASC certified and received the title of GM Master Technician. He retired from Pemberton Chevrolet in 2008. After the loss of his first wife in 2006, Jerry married Dayna Beaty Gibson on March 6, 2007. They made their home in Ponca City, where Dayna lovingly cared for him. Jerry's greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and discussing Chevy racing. Jerry is survived by his wife, Dayna Gibson; son, Jared Gibson and wife Stacy of Ponca City; three stepchildren, Holly Harper and husband Phillip, Lucas Beaty and wife Jill and Christine Beaty, all of Arkansas City, Kan.; three grandchildren, Hannah Gibson of Ponca City and Gabriel and Noah Harper of Arkansas City, Kan.; a brother, Gary Gibson of Sapulpa; two sisters, Merlene Berg of Tulsa and Denice Sawyer of Blackwell; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Haroldyn Fawcett Gibson; parents, Roy and Velera Gibson; and grandparents, Adam and Esther Koehn. Memorial services will be held graveside at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at Parker Cemetery in Arkansas City, Kan. A memorial has been established in his honor with Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 1904 North Union, Suite 103, Ponca City OK 74601.
