a. Note:   George C. Bazil, 80, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday evening, August 28, 2010 at the South Central Regional Medical Center in Arkansas City.
  Born January 18, 1930 in a farm house east of Arkansas City, Kansas he was the son of Alvin and Lottie (Richardson) Bazil. He was raised and received his education in Arkansas City graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1948. Following school George entered the United States Army where he proudly served his country in the Korean War. In 1957 he was honorably discharged from the Army. On July 3, 1955 George was united in marriage to Betty Warren in Winfield. The couple made their home in Winfield where George was employed by Mauer-Neuer Meat Packing, J.C. Penny?s, Viola Industry and Cessna. He then went to work for General Electric as a mechanic until his retirement in 1993.
  He was a member of Mt Zion Community Church in Arkansas City as well as the American Legion and VFW in Winfield.
  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, oil painting, singing, and drawing of all kinds.
  His family includes: His wife: Betty Bazil of the home; His son: Brett Bazil and wife, Ann of Winfield; His daughter: Clifdel Wehmeier and husband, Mark of Independence, KS; His sisters: Mary Petersen of Arkansas City; Lillian Bennett of New Caney, TX; His brothers: Clyde Bazil of Arkansas City; Frank Bazil of Arkansas City; Henry Bazil of Arkansas City; John Bazil of Arkansas City; His grandchildren: Derek Bazil; Audree Gottlob; Jamie Kelley; Thomas Wehmeier; Jennifer Wehmeier; His great-grandchildren: Rachel Bazil; Carson Wehmeier; Mark Kelley; Corbin Gottlob; and Many nieces and nephews.
  In addition to his parents George was preceded in death by a great grandson Paul Bazil, two brothers, Claude and Clarence Bazil, and a sister Ruby Beaty.
  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday afternoon, September 1, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Miles Funeral Service from 4:00 to 8:00 on Tuesday evening August 31, 2010. The family will greet visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 that evening.
  A memorial has been established in George?s name for the National Parkinson?s Foundation. Contributions may be made through Miles Funeral Service.
