a. Note:   Henry E. Bazil, 83, of Arkansas City, died Tuesday (May 17, 2011) at the South Central Kansas Medical Center. Cremation has been effected. Private family memorial services are scheduled for a later date. Henry was born November 27, 1927 in Arkansas City to Alvin and Lottie (Richardson) Bazil. He was reared and educated in Arkansas City. Henry married Vina Mae Schuneman on July 24, 1948. The couple has made their home in Arkansas City. He has worked for Pamona Tile for several years, as an assembler for Cessna Aircraft Company of Strother Field, and as a foreman in the Arkansas City Water Department. He retired in the late 1980's. Henry was an active leader in the Arkansas City area youth sports. He coached basketball at Oak Grove School, and baseball in all three youth divisions for Arkansas City Recreation Commission. Henry loved to hunt, fish, and water ski with his brothers and sisters. He was known to joke and kid with about anybody and above all he loved his kids and was a devoted family man. Survivors include his wife Vina Mae of the home; a son Bruce and his wife Becky Bazil of Arkansas City; two daughters "Ginger" and her husband Harvey Morgan of McKinney, Texas, Gail and her husband Jon Walker of Arkansas City; brothers Clyde, Frank and John Bazil all of Arkansas City; sisters Mary Peterson of Arkansas City and Lillian Bennett of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clarence, Claude, George and Francis an infant twin to Frank, and a sister Ruby Beaty. A memorial has been established with the Arkansas City Little League Baseball Association. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
