Note: Funeral services for Willie Olen Ashlock, 85 of Wagoner, were held at 2:30pm, Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007 at the Mallet Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Smalley officiating. Mr. Ashlock was born in Clarksville, Arkansas on February 27, 1922 to his parents, Will and Ada (Curtis) Ashlock. In the 1920's his family moved to the Council Hill area of Oklahoma where Olen attended school. Olen futhered his education at Okmulgee Tech as an auto mechanic. Shortly after his marriage to Dorothy Lucille Hardy in 1941, Olen enlisted into the U.S. Navy and served his country during World War II. Stationed at Pearl Harbor and New London, Connecticut, he worked as an underwater diver and welder. After the war, Olen moved his family to southeast New Mexico to work in the oil fields and remained in that line of work until his retirement in Midland, Texas in 1989. Olen and Dorothy lived in many different places in southeast New Mexico, east and west Texas before returning to Wagoner in 1999. During their life together, Olen and Dorothy were faithful members of the Lord's church in may communities. Olen served as an Elder at the Maljamer, New Mexico Church of Christ; Stanton, Texas Church of Christ and the Wagoner Church of Christ. Olen died on November 19, 2007 at the Wagoner Community Hospital. Olen was preceded in death by: his parents; his brother, Orville Ashlock; and his sister, Pearly Mae Ashlock. He is survived by: his wife of 66 years, Dorothy of the home; their children, Lanny Ashlock and his wife, Bonnie of Conway, Arkansas, Gary Ashlock and his wife, Meilee of Wagoner, and Stanley Ashlock of San Marcos, Texas; a brother, Frank Ashlock and his wife, Hester of Arvin, California; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends. Serving as pallbearers were Bruce Randall, Brad Randall, Mike DeVault, John Ashlock, Chet Sweet and Gerald Bobbit. Arrangements and interment in Pioneer Cemetery in Wagner were directed by Mallet Funeral Home of Wagoner.
