Lower Dies Suddenly Well Known Auburnian Long in Poor Health - Cage Star in Youth, Singer Phillip Allen Lower, 42, son of the late Martin J. and Jennie Lepper Lower, died suddenly Friday morning in City Hospital. He had been in ill health for many years, and after being stricken at midnight Thursday, never regained consciousness. Mr. Lower was born in Fleming and had lived in Auburn all his life. As a young man, he was vitally interested in sports, and starred in basketball at Auburn High School. He continued his athletic career at Dean Academy and graduated in the Class of 1926. He attended Dartmouth College and later was employed for a short time by the International Harvester Company. For the past 15 years, Mr. Lower worked for the New York State Electric and Gas Corporation and at the time of his death was office supervisor. He was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church and had always been active in church affairs. For many years he sang in the Second Presbyterian Choir, and more recently was a member of the newly organized Barber Shop Quartet that appeared on many local occasions. Mr. Lower is survived by his wife Mary-Nell Dickerman Lower; one son, David A.; one daughter, Nancy D.(actually B.); one sister, Miss Mildred Lower; one brother, Martin Lower of Baldwinsville; several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Langham�s Funeral Home with Rev. Byron E. Higon, pastor of Second Presbyterian Church, officiating. Friends are invited to call at the Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The omission of flowers has been requested. Y., on last November 25th. He had suffered with spinal arthritis for twelve years, but kept up many interests, including singing with the Second Presbyterian Choir, and more recently had been a member of the newly organized Barber Shop Quartet that appeared on many local occasions. After he left Dean, Phil went to Dartmouth and then worked for the International Harvester Co. For the past fifteen years he worked for the New York State Electric and Gas Corp., and at the time of his death was office supervisor. He married Mary-Nell Dickerman, and their daughter, Nancy, is eight, and their son, David, 12. At Dean Phil was active in sports, and shone on the basketball team. He also was recognized for his vocal abilities, and was one of the popular students of his school days. We regret his untimely passing, for Phil Lower contributed much to those who were fortunate to come in contact with him. We share his family�s loss. �Burial: Fort Hill Cemetary - Lower Plot
