Note: N322 � in 1880 Census was at school, aged 10 <b1870> in NY, single ahite, dau of E. Mary Lepper, in Buffalo, Erie Co, NY. � 1. Received letter from "Grandpa" Adams written 21 Feb 1889 regarding Indians taking her great-great grandfather LEPPER (72) and his mother (145) for ransom . � 2. Also received letter in file dated 13 Mar (1889?) written by "Grandpa" Adams, who was Susan (37) Marshall's 2cd husband, regarding royal English pedigree. � 3. She was educated in the public and private schools of Buffalo, NY. She was employed by the D.M.Osborne from 17 Feb 1891 @19 until married 28 Nov 1894, to Martin J. Lower. They had 5 children. Activities: President of Seward School PTA 1915, President of City of Auburn PTA 1916, Was only woman on committee of 20 men when Auburn had local option - Headed the women for a "dry" Auburn. For many years VP of Cayuga Co Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, First woman to be elected director of re-organized Chamber of Commerce (1920-1922). For 30 years wrote publicly and spoke seeking better housing, public health measures for colored people - personnaly supervised rennovation of Booker T. Washington Community Center - was member of the advisory board of the Center and executive secretary for 10 years 1926-36 until too blind to continue. She was nearly totally blind near the end of her life.
