Note: n, William in 1766, and Elizabeth in 1768. Elizabeth Rhodes died a few days after giving birth to her daughter Elizabeth, and daughter Elizabeth died a few days later. John remarried in 1770 to Elizabeth Marshall, no children born to this marriage were found. John died at Melbourne, Yorkshire in 1817. His son William was living at Melbourne at the time and I would think John was living with son William at the time of his death. John's second wife Elizabeth Marshall's family has some men named Marmaduke and I would think that may be where the Marmaduke name came from in the Burnell line. William Burnell's daughter Elizabeth named her first daughter Sarah Marshall Burnell. I would think the "Marshall" came from her step grandmother's maiden name. The naming pattern of William's children would indicate John & Elizabeth should be his parents names. The above reasons are why I believe this is the right line of Burnells. JDB Sep. 2001
