a. Note:   Note from Pat Warnock of Orleans 2001 Hi,Rod and Mary. The only John W in my line who was born in 1890 wasmyfavourite uncle John("Jack")Sylvester Warnock ,B Feb 10,1890 inGloucester ON,D Nov 1961 in Ottawa.He was my dad's (William) olderbrother and best friend,and the 2 of them we nt to War together inWWI,serving in the front lines as bakers (21st division),with anincredible number of fascinating stories to relate to us as youngsters.He trained on the east coast before going overseas and that is where hemet his wife Agn es. He took a bullet in the arm at Amiens, France. herecovered and returned to Ottawa after the war. In late October of 1919,Agnes travelled to Ottawa and stayed with Jack's sister Anne. They weremarried three weeks later. They had a famil y of three daughters. Heworked all his adult life at Standard Bread Co. in Ottawa and was alwaysheld in high regard by his family and colleagues.On Nov 11 each year Jackand my Dad marched proudly in the Armistice Parade on Parliament Hil lin Ottawa,proudly sporting their medals and then visited the CanadianLegion Post to meet their old buddies in arms and have a few pints! Quitea few!!! John was married to Agnes Elward of New Brunswick who was a pleasantcharacter and a great friend of ours to the end.These special people wereloving grandparents of Lynn Martin, .....Pat Warnock ============================================================================ John (Jack) Sylvester Warnock (Feb. 10, 1890-Nov. 19, 1961), mygrandfather, was the eldest son of John Warnock and Bridget Ryan. He wasborn in a log shanty on the Warnock farm on the Montreal Road. Jackjoined the Canadian Army (21st Division ) and served from 1916-1919.Before going overseas, he trained on the east coast of Canada where hemet my grandmother, Agnes Florence Elward (Aug. 27, 1897-April 12, 1989).They kept up a correspondence while he was overseas. I treasure two postcards that he sent to her while training in England. Jack was wounded,receiving a bullet in the upper arm in Amiens, France. He recovered fullyand returned home after the war. In late October of 1919, my grandmother,Agnes (Aggie) traveled fro m New Brunswick to Ottawa and stayed withJacks eldest sister, Anne.
