Note: REF: Clarendon Wesleyan Methodist Church Records M-2243 Armstrong- Fannie Young, wife of James Armstrong, of Radford, died on Sept. 15, 1898, and was buried on Sept. 16, 1898 in a Shawville cemetery. Witness at the burial was R. H. Whiteside. Shawville Equity edition dated Sept.22, 1898 (courtesy of Barbara Anderson, Youngstown, Ohio) "OBITUARY" "On Thursday morning last there passed away from earthly scenes and winged its light homeward, the spirit of one of Radford's old and most highly esteemed and respected residents, Mrs. James B. Armstrong. The deceased lady had been ill only a very short time, but despite every effort of kind, willing hands and the best of medical attention, she gradually grew weaker until the end-which she awaited with divine resignation and fortitude and that calm peacefulness which is the experience only of those who are triumphant in the hope of a glorious resurrection. By her many endearing qualities, she had won and enjoyed a large circle of friends and acquaintances, and invariably had the goodwill and esteem of every one with whom she came in contact; and as she lived she died a true and devoted Christian. The late Mrs. Armstrong was 66 years of age and leaves behind to mourn her loss a husband and sister, Mrs. William Caldwell ( the only remaining member of a family of ten), who have the genuine and heartfelt sympathy of the community. The deceased lady's remains were interred in Shawville cemetery and were followed to their last resting-place by a very large concourse of mourning friends and relatives. Rest in peace."
