  Brettle (or Brettell). A "John Brettell" signed as a witness on her marriage certificate which she signed as "Matilda Brettle."
  Newspaper Art: Denton Record and Chronicle, dated Oct 21, 1912 states that G. E. Harris" died on Sunday." The article also states that G. E. Harris married Matilda Brettle in Birmingham, England and that Matilda died "seven years ago." This would figure out 1905/6.
  Elmer Dudley, Matilda's son, provided the following verbal info: Matilda's family owned a nail factory in Birmingham, England prior to the 1870's.
  Came to US in 1870.

 You're welcome to have copies of what I have on Matilda Brettell. But it will have to be sent by "snail mail". It's taken from a book on the Henzey family (into which the Brettells married) published in 1877. I have had a look at it again and Matilda daughter of Richard and Matilda Brettell is noted as having died in infancy. To check on this
 I had a look at the indexes of Births in England and I can find only two Matilda brettells born in the period 1839 to 1841. Both were born
 at Stourbridge (which comprises Oldswinford in Worcestershire and Kingswinford in Staffordshire). One was in the March Quarter 1840 and
 the other in the December Quarter 1840. This second one is the daughter of Richard and Matilda. Neither of these fits well with a birth in May 1840. How sure are you of the date? I also had a look at the Death indexes for 1840 and 1841 and can find
 no deaths recorded for a Matilda Brettell. William
