a. Note:   Birth year may be 1908.
  Lived on the family farm with his parents until 1947, when they moved to Willow, OK and he became the town's nightwatchman and general maintenance man from 1947 to 1956.
  In 1956 they moved to Mangum, OK and he went to work for the Police Dept. He was elected Chief of Police in 1958 and served for six years. He then moved to Sterling, OK where he became City Marshal. He served until his retirement in 1979. They then moved to Elgin, OK where he served as Deputy Sheriff and City Marshal.
  Manuel was also a Baptist preacher for several years in the Willow area.
  He ran for Sheriff of Greer County but was not elected. On the back of Manuel's campaign card was the following message:
  "Being Yourself" So far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
 Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they, too have their story.
 If you compare yourself with others, you may become bitter and vain for always there will be greter and lesser persons than yourself.
