A number of persons convened in a grove in the west part of Liberty (Northwest corner of Kansas Street and Morse Avenue). Letters were received in testimony of the qualifications of the following, viz: Archibald McIIvaine and wife, Mrs. Hannah Mcllvaine, James McWilliams and Mary his wife,..." <Reference to Jane's possible family. *Joseph was Jane & William Thompson's first child. Joseph Kincaid McWilliams, Birth: Abt 1798 in Madison County,Kentucky, Death: 30 JUN 1848 in Liberty, Clay Co, MO, Married: 18 Oct 1822 in Madison County, to Elizabeth Hudson... "Very sure that two other people who appear in Clay County, MO. around the same time are related. John McWilliams and Lucinda McWilliams are undoubtedly Joseph's brother and sister. Best case is for John who married a Polly Hudson (Elizabeth's sister) in Madison County. a Simon Hudson (father of Polly and Elizabeth), a John McWilliams, and a Joseph McWilliams all bought land on the same day at the land office in Clay County. On Sep 7, 1838, Joseph bought another piece of land partly in Clay and partly in Platte Co. (NOTE: Paint Lick Creek currently divides Garrard Co. and Madison Co., KY., and Jane's husband, William Thompson, grew up just a few miles from Paint Lick Creek.) It is curious that all of the following surnames are in the Kincaid Cemetery (Kingston, Madison Co, KY) where Jane's In-Laws are buried: McWilliams, Kincaid, Elder, Davidson.
