  Obituary transcribed from The Rock Island Argus, Wednesday, December 26, 1928, Page 10 DESCENDANT OF PILGRIMS DEAD AT PORT BYRON Port Byron. Ill., Dec. 26, - Mrs. A. G. Brewster, 61 years old, a life resident of Zuma township and Port Byron, and a descendant of Elder William Brewster, Pilgrim minister, died at her home here yesterday. She had been an invalid for many years. Mrs. Brewster was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory Brown, pioneer settlers of Zuma township. It was through her mother, Mrs. Antonette Brown, that her lineage was traced back to the Pilgrim fathers. Julia M. Brown was born in Zuma township on Feb. 6, 1867, and lived in that community intil 18 years ago, when she was married to A. G. Brewster. The couple had since lived in Port Byron. Mrs. Brewster was a member of the Port Byron Congregational church, the Dorcas society, Esther chapter of the Eastern Starr and Royal Neighbors of America. She is survived, besides the widower, by four sisters, the Misses Clara M. and Netta M. Brown, who reside on the old family homestead in Zuma; Mrs. Richard Hall of Sloan, Iowa, and Mrs. G. H. Osborn of Davenport, and two brothers, W. S. Brown of Geneseo and John Brown of Hillsdale. Funeral services will be held in the Brewster home Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. D. C. Ellinwood, pastor of the Port Byron Methodist church, officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove cemetery at Port Byron. (in Rock Island County, IL)
