a. Note:   Obituary: Everett W. Brown 1912-2005
  MARYVILLE, Mo. - Everett Winfield Brown, 93, of Maryville, died Thursday, July 14, 2005, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Mo. Everett was born April 13, 1912, in Adel, Iowa, to Dave L. and Mamie (Wachtel) Brown. He married Virgina Mae Shadwick on Nov. 17, 1934, in Forest City, Mo. She preceded him in death. On March 23, 1985, he married Shoba Mansukhani in St Louis, Mo. She survives of their home. He was a Navy blimp pilot during World War II and served in the Missouri National Guard for an additional 23 years, retiring as a major. Everett held various administrative positions at Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville. After 30 years of service there, he retired as assistant to the president.
  He was a member of the First Christian Church and Rotary governor from 1962 to 1963. He was elected to the Missouri state Legislature in 1976. He continued in office until 1993 when he retired from his elected office. Staying active in state government, he accepted the vice-chair of the Coordinating Board of Higher Education, serving from 1993 to 1998.
  Everett was honored with an honorary doctor of laws degree from NWMSU in April of 2000, which pleased him very much.
  In addition to his wife, Shoba, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Sue Brown, Lewiston, Idaho; and Steve and Rita Brown, St. Louis; five grandchildren, David, Laurie, Shadra, Polly and Anna; and two great-grandchildren, Paris and Sienna.
  A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, at the First Christian Church, Maryville. Military honors will conclude the memorial service at the church. There will be a celebration of Everett's life at the Maryville Country Club following the memorial service. Price Funeral Home, Maryville, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Everett Brown Scholarship Fund at NWMSU; First Christian Church, Maryville; or Maryville Rotary Club.
