a. Note:   Ferris worked for 37 years in the foreign mail department of the U.S. Post Office in downtown Chicago. He always lived where public transportation was available for his daily commute.
  Ferris was named after George Washington Ferris from Galesburg, IL who invented the Ferris Wheel. This Ferris Wheel was displayed at the World's Fair of 1892 in Chicago. His mother, Emily, is said to have been acquainted with George Ferris and possibly had a ride on this Ferris Wheel.
  Ferris believed in rest and recreation. When able to take vacations always provided his family just that according to "whatever his pocketbook could afford." His income was limited and provided for his family by buying investment/income property where they always occupied a flat in this income property.
