Notes
a. Note:   Owner of Dale's Garage in Oakland, PA He had a contract with Isley's ice cream for truck driving and maintenance. His brother Bill and
brother-in-law, Robert Grable worked for him. I don't remember the names
 of the other employees.
He also had a Chrysler Plymouth dealership with a man named Mr. Litman in
Braddock, PA. The place of business was across the street from Braddock
General Hospital, School of Nursing, Braddock, PA. I attended in 1962 ,
and my dorm room faced the dealership. I could see him from my window,
 working late into the night.
His nickname was Casey. I heard he was called that because he was hit by
a baseball bat when playing ball one day. The name became the given name
for the family, Uncle Casey. Casey at the bat.
He was a quiet, kind, generous man with favors and money for his
relatives and friends. He kept many family members in his home, and
supported them financially, when they were unemployed in the 1940's.
He worked hard and provided well for his family. We lived in beautiful
homes, had nice clothes, and each of us kids got a car at 16 if we wanted
one. He was a business man with integrity and honesty. He was greatly
 respected by all.
He was ill for many years before his death. He had coronary artery
disease, aortic aneurysm, diabetes at a late onset. He died at home in
West Mifflin with his cat next to him.
I was reading some old letters I had written to my husband to be in 1962,
after learning he was put on blood thinners. He was told by the doctor
to slow down. Also to cut back on the number of hours he worked.
Fourteen years later, at 62, he died of severe heart disease.
The number of years as a business owner took it's toll. Stress was
really the precipitating factor in his declining health.
