ANDERS (ANDY) TESTMAN Andy Testman, of Yucaipa, was born in Pensacola, Florida, in 1930. He died in a plane crash in Riverside County on Sunday, April 3, 2011. He lived in Redlands for over 60 years. Andy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn; and his two sons, Mike and Randy Testman, both of Mentone. He was a much loved stepfather to Teri Martin of Redlands, Tom Shirtcliff of San Marcos, Joyce Testman of Meridian, ID, and Joni West, also of Meridian, ID. He was the grandfather of three, and great-grandfather of three. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, May Martin of Redlands. Andy enlisted in the Army shortly after World War II when he was 17. After servicing in the Army, including a tour in Japan, he settled in Redlands. Andy worked as a machinist at Kaiser Steel in Fontana for 32 years. He served as the grievance man at the plant, and was Vice President of Local 2869. After retiring, Andy discovered flying and became a licensed pilot. He founded the Aerodrome Flight School & Plane Rental, based at the Redlands Airport. He operated the business for 10 years, and was generous with his time. Andy took dozens of children up in the air to give them their first taste of flying. Andy and Marilyn moved to Idaho in 2000, where he opened a new business and continued to fly. They returned to the Redlands area in 2003 and built a home in Yucaipa. Andy continued with his love of flying and had his two planes based at the Banning Airport. He and his friends flew each Wednesday and Sunday to meet for breakfast at varying southern California destinations. He was heading to one of those breakfasts when the accident occurred. Services will be private.
