a. Note:   Eddyville Tribune Thursday Sept 19, 1974 FUNERAL FOR ALVIA JORDAN Alvia Jordan, 76, died Wednesday at Mercer Co. Hospital, Aledo, Ill. , after having been a patient there for five days. He had been living at the home of his son, Russell Jordan, in Taylor Ridge, Ill., for about a month. Born Feb. 6, 1898 in Bridgeport, Iowa, he was the son of James and Sarah Ann Pitcher Jordan. On Feb.14, 1923, he was married in Ottumwa to Helena Larson. He had been a farmer and a miner of both rock and coal. Surviving are six children, Mrs. George( Ethel Helen) Majavac, North English; Mrs. Cecil (Esther) Lennox, Douds; Mrs. Frank ( Irene) Moore, Phoenix, Ariz; Russell Jordan, Taylor Ridge; Richard Jordan, Corona, Calif.; Ronald Jordan, Dysart, Iowa; 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and one brother, John Oskaloosa. He was preceded in death by his wife on March 28, 1971; three brothers, two sisters and one grandson. Funeral services were Saturday at 1 p.m. in Eddyville. Burial was in forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Eddyville Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
