Note: This an announcement in the Graceville, FL News Paper MAN IS KILLED BY FALLING TREE Funeral Set Tomorrow For J. A. Phillips J. A. Phillips, thirty-seven. Graceville, Fla., route three, was killed almost instantly yesterday afternoon when struck by a falling tree while working near his home. Funeral home attaches quoted fellow workers of Mr. Phillips as saying a tree lodged upon another after it had been cut. Apparently unaware efforts were being made to dislodge a tree, Mr. Phillips was unable to escape when the tree fell, they said. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. tomorrow at Pleasant Grove Church with Rev. W.H. McIntosh of Chipley and the Rev. B. C. Balcom of Graceville Rt. 3 officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Ward-Wilson directing. Surviving are his wife and four sons, John T., Broward, Howard and Curtis Phillips all of Graceville route three; one daughter, Miss Mildred Phillips of Graceville route three; five brothers, Walter Phillips of Graceville, Noah and Glenn Phillips of Colombus, Ga., Dan and Code Phillips of Akron, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Estelle Register and Mrs. Ozell Smith of Graceville, Mrs. Idell Ray of Panama City, Fla. Active Pallbearers will be Arnie Thomas, Henry Thomas, Carlson Skinner, Spurgeon Skinner, Lyman Hartzog, Webster Balcom.
