Notes
a. Note:   Sarah's baptism is in the Bonavista Anglican records. Sarah's baptism in the Black Books from PANL: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-10506-3857-77?cc=1793777&wc=5479033
Sarah's headstone (near the cemetary gate of the General Protestant Cemetary in St. John's) reads: "Blessed are the dead with die in the Lord. In loving memory of SARAH QUINTON who departed this life March 7, 1907 aged 77 years. They die in Jesus and are blest, How calm their slumbers are From sufferings and from woes released And freed from every snare." Given the age of 77, Sarah would therefore have been born about 1830.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-10506-7261-85?cc=1790939&wc=5495913 Sarah's death is in Vital Stats Box/Reel 31, Item 2, Page 6, Line 2. She died on 7 March 1907, on Gower Street, of pneumonia. She was 77 years old, and was buried in the General Protestant Cemetary. Her religion is recorded as Methodist. And her birthplace is recorded as Conception Bay.
Sarah's burial record can be found in the records of Cochrane Street Methodist Church. She is listed as having died on 7 March 1907 and buried on 9 March 1907. She was 77 years old, and her abode is given as Gower St.
http://collections.mun.ca/u?/telegram19,60919 Sarah's obituary appears on page 6 of the Evening Telegram of Friday, 8 March 1907: Last evening, Sarah Quinton (sister of the late Capt. Edward White) of Bonavista Bay; funeral on to-morrow, (Saturday), at 2 30, from her son's residence, 45 Gower Street; friends will please accept this, the only, intimation.
The burial register for the General Protestant Cemetary shows that Sarah was buried in Plot 70 of Section 9. The date is 7 March 1907, although the 7 is not clear [perhaps this is the date of purchase of the plot, and not the burial date]. Her age is recorded as 76. The register also has an entry on 5 April 1923 for a still born "Smith Baby" who was buried in Section 9, with "Reopen 70" written for the grave.
