Notes
a. Note:   Scalped by Indians 25 Sep. 1725. Source: Genealogical Dictionary, Maine & New Hampshire, Surnames, E-F, Page 225 After he married, John lived and died in Madbury, New Hampshire. In 1725 he was scalped by the Indians, left for dead, but survived. William, Benjamin, and his son, Benjamin, Jr., were killed by the Indians. He was married, perhaps more than once (second marriage in 1749?). Left three children: Jonathan, Moses, and Abigail. John was married to Elizabeth Kimmin, daughter of Moses Kimmin.
There seems to be some confusion as to the year in which John died. The date in the computer record is from Robert Canney's book of marriages, but see below. The following information is taken from the Probate Records of Strafford County, New Hampshire, as found in the book by Helen F. Evans. (209) Evans, John (1775). Est. Madbury husbm. decd. intestate.
