Notes
a. Continued:   DEATH: Listed on what appears to be a cemetery listing for Council Bluffs - says no marker ADOPTION: In the Will of Thomas R. Owen, grandfather to Jessie, it says "I do hereby give, devise and bequeath to each of the children of my deceased daughter by adoption, Jessie McKenzie... 1910 Census: Garner, Pottawattamie, Iowa (age 9) 1920 Census: Garner, Pottawattamie, Iowa (age 18) Living with grandparents for both census, daughter of Fred & Rosa but unsure if they were really married etc. 1925 Census: Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie, Iowa (age 24) . It is thought that Jessie's kids may have been placed in an orphanage when she died - Creche House on Pierce Street, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Charles McKenzie, their father, most likely was off looking for work as it was in the depression. In an article of "Nonpareil" dated 24 Oct 1926 there is a picture of Josephine McKenzie - this was three months before mother, Jessie died.
