DEATH: AmericanAncestors.com - West Springfield, Massachusetts Town Records - Clement Farnum, drowned, March 30, 1827, age 62, 'near the bridge a little south of Aaron Baggs'. . DEATH NOTICE: Printed in the 'Salem Gazette' 10 April 1827. In West Springfield, Mr. Clement Farnum, aged 63. We understand that Mr. Farnum was returning home and came to the place in the road, near Mr. Aaron Bagg's house, in West Springfield, where the freshet set the water back to the depth of 3 or 4 feet. A woman saw him passing and called to him, but he did not hear. The horse went off the traveled path into an adjoining gutter; and when he began to plunge, the body of the wagon was thrown off, and the horse, with the forward wheels went on. Mr. Farnum was found dead in a depth of water but little more than 3 feet - his face downward, and his hands and knees resting on the bank. It is thought he was either asleep, or helpless from some other cause. . A DAR file gives spouse as Abigail Knott - check out
